A domestic abuse women and children’s shelter

Earnest Institute for the Gifted, Hyperactive & Talented

 (E.I.G.H.T.)

Began as a for-profit school, however it soon became apparent that those in the most desperate need of special education could not afford to pay the school costs. Did you know that the public schools in Jamaica require parents to pay for lunches, entrance exams, school uniforms, and more? This means that often, one child is chosen out of the family to attend school, while the other children must help to sustain the family while contributing to sending the chosen child to school, this is a common practice in Jamaica. Many children are not afforded the opportunity to receive an education.

(E.I.G.H.T.).

Has since begun functioning as a non-profit school. They are in desperate need of school supplies, items to repair different areas in the school, and more.

Of that Total, 864 were family households, 764 were Veterans, 504 were unaccompanied young adults (aged 18-24), and 1,374 were individuals experiencing chronic homelessness.

Public school data reported to the U.S. Department of Education during the 2018-2019 school year shows that an estimated 38,891 public school students experienced homelessness over the course of the year. Domestic Violence In Georgia

Did you know?

Georgia ranks 10th in the nation for the rate at which women are killed by domestic violence.

According to "www.liebertpub.com" Before the pandemic Georgia ranked 10th in the nation for the rate at which women were killed by men; the state's certified domestic violence agencies answered 52,282 crisis calls in 2019; yet, over 4,700 women and their children were turned away from shelters owing to lack of space demonstrating the significant health need for Georgians even before COVID-19 [Georgia Commission on Family Violence (GCFV) 2020; Violence Policy Center (VPC) 2019].

To our knowledge Haven House is the only women's shelter located in Henry county dedicated to domestic violence with programs. Haven House is a domestic violence shelter and program serving victims of family violence in Henry, Jasper, Butts and Lamar Counties. Please let the staff at Haven House help you find peace and security.

Founder of, Gift of Abundant Love
"My Story"

In 2001, I became a divorced single mother working two jobs to support myself and my two young children ages three and five. I struggled to maintain my household and did not want  to be on public assistance. There came a time when I had no choice but to apply for food assistance, I swallowed my pride and applied, only to find out that I qualified for fifty dollars a month. At that time I could barely afford gas for my vehicle and money to wash our clothes at the local laundry mat. Once my youngest child was able to attend kindergarten, I was able to change jobs and work more hours. Over a period of time I was able to improve our stability. I never forgot how stressful, how depressed, how lonely, and how close I was to losing everything that I was trying to build for myself and my children. One afternoon a friend and I decided to have a day out in Downtown Atlanta with our children. We made sandwiches, packed some potato chips, drinks and fruits then drove downtown. After our long day out we headed back home and the kids started asking questions like “Why were people sitting on the floor?”  “Why do they look so sad?” and “Why is that person going through the trash?” So we answered the questions as best we could. Explaining what homelessness was, and the possible reasons why they were homeless. For the next few days the questions kept coming, so we decided we would pack sandwiches, drinks and fruit then head back down there to give away food and show love to as many people as we could. We then began to collect blankets and food from friends and family. I would work overtime at work and use the extra money to buy what was not donated.  This became something we did every few months as well as on the holidays.

My children are adults now and although our lives have changed for the better I have never forgotten how close I was to being a part of the homeless statistic, there are more homeless people in Georgia now than there was back in 2003 when we began serving the homeless.

In 2015 I knew I wanted to do more, something bigger, more impactful. So, in 2017 Gift of Abundant Love was founded.

Combining my love of music, my compassion for the elderly, my empathy for the homeless and all those in need.

Meet Our Board Members

The most difficult aspect for me starting this charity was deciding who to help. As I researched the issues and needs of the local community I did my best to focus on one area of need. I felt my inner peace was unsettled. After months and months of speaking with other founders and creators, I decided that for G.O.A.L we would not be locked in to one specific area of service. Why not meet the needs as they arrive? Why not service many demographics simultaneously? Can this be done? These are the questions I asked and the answers to those questions were an astounding yes.

We would need board members and volunteers with creative minds, passionate spirits, and as diverse as the communities we serve.
